Healthier Muffins – Chocolate Chip Banana

Want Healthier Muffins?? Don’t Worry We Got You!

 

We all know that store bought muffins are loaded with sugar and are pretty much the same calorie count and profile as donuts (aka you might as well just have a tasty donut!!).  Not all muffins are made equal and I’m not going to tell you the recipe below are the most low calorie “diet friendly” muffin

s, but I can tell you they are healthier muffins than store bought alternatives.

Occasionally having a store bought muffin is Ok, but if you are someone who really enjoys baked goods I suggest giving these healthier muffins a try in order to avoid doing too much damage to your fitness goals.  The ingredients in these healthier muffins below are good for you, chemical free, and contain less sugar then you might find in a chocolate chip banana muffin you might find in a grocery store or local coffee

Ok, enough chit chat let’s get to making these healthier muffins!

Ingredients for These Healthier Muffins:

  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat pastry flour (or white whole wheat flour)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 bananas
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon olive or melted coconut oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup nonfat plain greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

How To Make These Healthier Muffins:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease a muffin tin with non-stick cooking spray (I love using coconut oil or avocado oil) and then mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  2. In a blender, mix banana, oil, honey, vanilla, and milk until you get a creamy mixture.  Pour this creamy mixture into the dry ingredients and then add chocolate chips as desired.
  3. Pour the mixture into the muffin tin and pop in the oven for 20-25 minutes.  Pull them out and try to let them cool for a few minutes before enjoying the amazingness that is these muffins!
